Changing outgoing mail control times out

When I click on Change Settings at Outgoing Mail Control and enter some new numbers for the default number of emails from each user/domain/subscription and click OK, it takes over 5 minutes of wall clock time, and eventually I get a nginx Timeout.

Is there anything I should do to speed this up?

Any related detail from /usr/local/psa/admin/logs/panel.log, /var/log/sw-cp-server/error_log, /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog ?
