  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

DNS problems! Help needed

I've been attempting to get a CNAME to work for about 4 days and I've just about ran out of ideas. I really hope someone can shine some light as to what I may be setting incorrectly. What I am trying to do is CNAME domain.com and well as www.domain.com to a given URL so that users can access the site with or without a www.

Here's where I am:

I have to use a CNAME in order to direct to one of my affiliates co-branded sites. So I entered it in as so:

domain.com. NS ns1.domain.com.
domain.com. NS ns2.domain.com.
domain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
webmail.domain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
mail.domain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
NS1.domain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
NS2.domain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
*.domain.com. CNAME affiliate.domain.com.
domain.com. MX (10) mail.domain.com.
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX / 24 PTR domain.com.

With the current DNS settings in place, users are only capable of accessing the site via www.domain.com. If a user attempts domain.com without the www, they get a "This is the placeholder for domain domain.com" which is an initial page generated by plesk upon domain creation.

Any suggestions? Has anyone else run into the predicament?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thx

Omied
