• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

CNAME redirect on subdomain Plesk 9.0.1?

Hi

I rent a dedicated server from 1and1 and have Plesk 9.0.1 installed.

From the 1and1 control panel (admin.1and1.co.uk) I can only setup 15 sub domains.

From Plesk I can setup as many sub domains for each domain as I like.

I need to set CNAME records on about 50 sub domains on this server, which I can't do from the 1and1 control panel as I am limited to controlling only 15 sub domains.

Is this possible from Plesk instead?

When I create a sub domain in Plesk, I can't see any options to add a CNAME record to that sub domain.

I have tried creating a domain alias instead and then edit the DNS of that alias, but with little success.
When I create an alias, for instance: service.mydomain.com and then try and edit the DNS, it doesn't make much sense as I can only seem to bolt on more aliases: another.service.mydomain.com.

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

All I want to do is set a CNAME record for a sub domain to point to my partners service:

service CNAME alias.mypartner.com

many thanks

Just tried something else...

From the Plesk homepage, under the server heading I clicked DNS Settings which displayed the DNS Zone Teplate page.
I added a new DNS Record:
Record type: CNAME
Enter domain name: service
Enter a canonical name: alias.mypartner.com

Thinking that this would point service.mydomian.co.uk on all my domains to alis.mypartner.com... which didn't work either. :/
