• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Correct Setting for IP address

I'm new at this. I have set up several clients. Each client has one or more domains. The client has one IP address. The quesion is: Do I set Exclusive or Shared for the IP in the Server for IP addresses? Does it make a difference?

Thanks,

Unless they specifically want their own ip address, then I always use the shared ip address setting because you don't want to be using up all of your ip addresses . . .

I see. Maybe I'm missing the meaning--so of course, I have additional questions.

Does it make a difference if the IP address assigned to the client is set to shared or exclusive? And, does that setting affect the domains set up by the client?

Or is the shared and exclusive setting for the Administrator's use---for example, does shared mean that I could assign the IP to another Client?

Thanks, Ellen
