customers/subscriptions/resellers mess after migration

I'm guessing I did something wrong when migrating from Plesk 9 to 11.

After the migration all my "domains" became subscriptions and within an individual subscription the Users tab shows all my previous clients -- anyone with an email address shows up as a User. This does not seem right!

Additionally I have noticed that an individual client's control panel login will show other client's "user" account during a Wordpress install from the control panel in the drop menu labeled "Grant administrative access to existing user"

In that I do provide Control Panel access to some clients, I want to be sure these clients cannot see references to other clients as in the Wordpress example above.

Can I (and should I) move my "subscriptions" to "customers"? It seems a "customer's subscription is always linked to a domain" so I wonder if that means I really don't have any alternatives here?

I do not have any clients that will be resellers. But I do have clients that will want a control panel.
 
I'm not completely sure what's happening there for you. Most of what you describe is what is supposed to happen and is perfectly logical and good.

1) Clients become Customers. Clients used to have limits (number of domains, amount of disk space etc). Customers don't have limits.
Customers can have one of more Subscription, and each Subscription can contain one or more Domains.
Customers each have a panel login, allowing them to access all Subscriptions (and therefore domains) in their accounts.


2) Domains become Subscriptions, sort of. Or more accurately, a Subscription is a container for one or more domains, and can have limits (disk space etc) set on it. A Subscription with one domain in it is basically exactly the same as a Domain in older versions of Plesk. Subscriptions are very flexible, and their limits can be linked to a Service Plan definition, where changes in a Service Plan change the limits of all Subscriptions based on it.

If a Client had more than one Domain, they will normally end up as a Customer with more than one Subscription (with each Subscription containing a single domain) after the migration.


3) Other entities in older versions of Plesk that could login to the panel in one way or another become Users. This includes email addresses -- you may not have realised it, but in older version of Plesk it was possible for a user to login to the panel using their email username and password in order to adjust their settings (e.g. autorespoder). Thus these become Users, but Users limited to changing their own indicidual email settings (err....I think---it has been a long time since I played with those things so maybe I'm just imagining all this).

Now all that is very well, but what you describe is kind of strange.

Oh boy! That doesn't sound right. Hmm... Did you have all your Domains under one Client (e.g. YOU) in your old Plesk? Or was each Domain under its own Client? If they were all under "you" then that might..MIGHT... explain what's happening. All the new Subscriptions are now under "you", when they should in fact be under individual Customers.

Ummm.. I've lost the plot at this point :-( That sounds strange. Maybe I'm wrong in my suggestion above.

I don't really understand the question, but it might be hinting that you have a bunch of Subscriptions under "you" again. If that's the case then I think the answer is yes, you need to create a bunch of Customers, then change the ownership of the appropriate Subscription to that Customer. The Customer will have a panel login, and when you do so they will see their Subscription and nobody else's.

But I have to say I'm really not sure what's happening there....there are some choices to make when you finish a Migration ("Business Model transition" or something like that), where you decide various things, and based on the answers you give different things can happen. I don't know if this happens moving from 9.x to 11.x because I skipped 9.x and don't actually know anything much about it. I'm therefore worried that I'm spouting nonsense that doesn't apply in your case, but I thought I'd at least reply just in case anything I say makes any sense or does any good at all.
