• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Disable AwStats Server-Wide

AwStats is consuming a lot of server resource when it runs (we are on Linux with Plesk 9.2.3). Yet the statistics aren't used for any domain on this dedicated server.

Worse, the situation is deteriorating and, unless AwStats is stopped, it threatens to take down the server.

There must be a way to disable AwStats server-wide without also disabling disc & transfer usage statistics updates. See http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=97182

Can Parallels please help with this?

Hi Igor -

1. Does this have to be done domain name by domain name? Is their a global command?

2. How is this different from Plesk CP --> Domains --> Example Domain Name --> Web Hosting Settings --> Web Statistics --> None

3. Is it possible that the problem is not AwStats per se, but the combination of statistics packages all being run at the same time under the AwStats umbrella (i.e., AwStats, Webalizer, Disc Usage, Traffic Usage)?

Thanks,
Gary

1. Yes. Domain name should be there.
2. It is the same as 1 but I think it is much more convenient to disable AWstats via some script in CLI than disable it for each domain manually via Plesk interface.
3. Not sure. I never heard about this problem with AWstats before. Usually AWstats update runs at night hours and it doesn't affect other services operation.
