  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

DNS across multiple Plesk Servers

Hi all,

I have a single FC4 dedicated server with Plesk 8.0.1. I knew enough about DNS to setup a private namerserver (ns1 & ns2) and get all the Plesk Domains to use it and provide all my customers with instructions on how to set their domains to point to them with their registrar.

My single dedicated server is filling up and I need to expand to multiple servers now. Here is what I am thinking...

I will have 3 dedicated servers (FC4) - each running Plesk 8.0.1. The first server will be www.company.com and host my company website and be Primary DNS. The second server will be www.service1.com hold all my customers for my 1st service and be a Slave DNS. The third server will be www.service2.com and hold all my cusotmers for my 2nd service and be a Slave DNS. I'd like to give ALL my customers the same nameserver pointers: ns1.company.com, ns2.service1.com, and ns3.service2.com

I am past my experience with DNS at this point....

How can I get a Plesk Domain added to www.service1.com to register its DNS with the Plesk Primary DNS server at www.company.com ?

I've read through the primary/secondary DNS information and read about domain transfers and ACLs, but I am lost.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Mike Kabot
