DNS Help Needed Please

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but I've been trying to look in the documentation and Flash tutorials but am having a hard time making sense of the situation.

I recently signed up for a dedicated virtual hosting account w. my hosting provider. The goal is to resell the hosting to my clients. I registered a domain: myhostingdomain.com through GoDaddy.com with intentions of that being the primary domain.

I am trying to ultimately get:

1.) The primary domain hosted on the server: (myhostingdomain.com). So I need to set up or figure out what to do for DNS numbers in both Plesk and GoDaddy. putting ns1.myhostingdomain.com and ns2.myhostingdomain.com does not work at the moment, presumably because I don't have it set up correctly.

2.) With respect to number 1, I would like to then be able to tell my clients to use ns1.myhostingdomain.com and ns2.myhostingdomain.com for their hosting. What do I need to do inside Plesk to do that?

I need to get this set up pronto, so if need be I can paypal someone $10 or whatever if that's any motivation to walk me through the process.

For starters, do you have two servers available to use as DNS servers? You can't do it with only one server.

No, I have just the one. Do I need to get 2 in order to host web sites? Or will I just have one Nameserver? Or? Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

Setting up your own Name server

This works for me, But it is a dedicated server.

As far as plesk
Create the domain nothing else.

The main thing to do is set up a name server
with the registar that provided you the domain.
Ex. NetWorksolutions.

All they need is 1 or 2 IP numbers to
create your own nameserver.
Use the I.P #'s that your your server uses.

Name server looks like:
NS1.YOURDOMAIN.COM
NS2.YOURDOMAIN.COM

Once this is done,
sites you host, need only point to your 2
name servers.

A cry for help

Arghhh!

This really can't be that confusing, can it?
Can anyone please help me, I will pay you. Literally.

My registrar is Go Daddy. I go to the Total DNS Control Panel and type in the IP address for the Host @ record. Works good, now 'myhostingdomain.com' goes to the intended server.I see the temporary web page for my primary BUT:

1.) What about all of the CNAMES and other options in my myhostingdomain DNS? It looks like their still parked with the registrar's temporary page. As well as, there are still name-servers by default. Can I get rid of these? Can I put my own?

When setting up ANOTHER domain...

2.) When I try to put ns1.myhostingdomain.com and ns2.myhostingdomain.com, I get errors from Go Daddy. Obviously I am doing something wrong. But WHAT?

PLEEEEEEEEASE help me!!!!!!!!!! PM your PayPal and I will send money to someone who can help me get this set up for god's sake. Please

Call godaddy.com and ask them to set up your own
name server.

I don't think you can set it up yourself, they need to do it.

If they can't help you, you should use networksolutions for this set up, and the cheaper registers for other domains (your clients).

It's what I do.

In the event anyone ever gets stuck on this again - here is the solution in Go Daddy, once you select your domain of choice, look in the lower left hand side for:

Host Summary

From there, you'll see an option to register values to an IP address. You'll have to obtain these from your hosting provider. In my case, i had to pay an extra buck or two to assign another IP address to my account.

In my case I did:
ns1.mydomain.com
ns2.mydomain.com

From there, I just changed my namer servers to the above and finally solved my problems.
