• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

DNS Issue

Hi All

I think this is a simple issue. We had a domain - let's call it domain1.com - for a customer on the server and part of the site sends an e-mail through a PHP script. The e-mail address that it sent to, for example, was:

[email protected]

Everything worked fine.

We then took over the hosting of the website for domain2.com as well, but not the hosting for the e-mail.

Now the script has stopped working for [email protected].

On other servers, we've just set up an MX record to point the mail back to mail.3rdpartymailserver.net, for example.

I've done this on the Plesk box but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

The DNS screen for domain2.com looks like this for the mail bits:

domain2.com. MX (0) mail-relay.power.net.uk.
domain2.com. MX (5) smtp-relay.power.net.uk.

Does this look like it's setup correctly, or is there something else I need to do? There are no other MX records setup for this domain and we don't have the nameservers pointed at our server so we shouldn't have to create A records.

It must be a problem with our box as it worked fine until we added the second domain.

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Best regards

Andy

Hi Andy

Try to disable mail service for the domain, in this case Plesk will not attempt to deliver mail localy,
and will redirect to external mail server at once.
