• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.

Domain not resolving in browser

I have set up my dedicated server and now setting up a Domain, using Plesk 9.2.3

- I registered "domain.com" several days ago
- in Plesk, clicked Domains and created a new domain, identifying "domain.com" as the one I would be hosting
- using FTP, I logged in to the server
- I can see /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/ which Plesk created
- The default index.html page that Plesk installs in /httpdocs is there

But when I use my browser to go to domain.com, I am taken to the default Apache index.html page.

Why is my domain that I created in Plesk not resolving correctly in the browser?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Are you sure that domain's hostname is resolvable to your Plesk server IP address?

resolved...

...at least for my situation.

It turns out that I have a hardware firewall upstream from the server (I'm new to all of this!) and therefore, I needed to define an internal IP address for the /vhost directory where the site resides on the server.

So in Plesk, I had to go to the screen "Home", choose "IP Addresses" and "Reread IP". Plesk then identified an internal IP as 10.0.0.1 and it became available to the domain I was having trouble with. I then went to "Domains... Web Hosting Settings" and chose the newly-available internal IP address.

Now browser resolves to the domain properly.

AntonioMG i have the same problem, but if i put http://domain.com it goes to the web page but if we seacrh for http://www.domain.com, gives an error.
all dns are ok

AntonioMG: When you created the domain in Plesk, did you choose the checkbox for "www" next to where you type in the domain name? I can't remember exactly what that changes, but I'm wondering if it is related to how the DNS settings are created for the domain?? Again, I am a total rookie at this stuff, so it mostly takes me lots of guessing to figure out any of this and stumble upon an answer. Image of what I'm talking about:
