Any help is much appreciated

Unfortunately, that part of the maillog does not include anything related to the issue you have described.

Before we dive into figuring out why a forward is unsuccessful, you might want to consider GMails pick-up service for external POP3 accounts. It is described in the "Get all messages" section of this article:
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/21289?co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop&hl=en

The important advantage of using that pick-up service over forwarding to Gmail is, that the pick-up service will always retrieve all mails and never blacklist your otherwise forwarding domain if the domain is forwarding spam that it receives. The disadvantage is that there is short interval, so that mails are not picked up "live".
