  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Error on 'mail subdomain'

After the latest update Plesk has started showing a random domains index page when accessing the actually non-existing 'subdomain' mail.domain.com, where 'mail.domain.com' is the virtual mailserver for the domain in question...

ALL domains on the server in questions has the error.

We know that it is probably something that can be fixed with 'websrvmng.exe' but we haven´t been able to locate the actual command needed to fix the problem....

Anybody out there that can remember it?

Hi,

Most probably that situation is as follows:

dns name mail.domain.name resolves to some ip address (it is by default according to domain dns template) and you have default web site configured on that ip.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, but that was naturally the first we checked.... ;-)

No - the problem is that ALL domains on the server suffers from this error and as mentioned previously it is a matter of resetting all webmail settings for the server and it is a very fast process that can be done by one command line in the prompt window but unfortunately nobody from SWSOFT/Paralells bother to even reply to this thread or otherwise although this is a very easy solved problem - solved by just answering with the line needed to reset these to the correct standing...

It is hard to suggest certain solution then without looking at actual configuration and without examples.

Plesk do not add mail.* host headers for web sites.

This command reconfigure domain in IIS:

websrvmng --reconfigure-vhost --vhost-name=domain.tld

But i am sure this is not the case.

Thanks again for answering, but it seems that You don´t quite understand the problem...

This worked just fine for 2 years on the server and works fine on our other Plesk servers with similar setup.

When typing 'mail.domain.tld' in Your browser on a Plesk server, You should get the default error page served saying 'the domain You are looking for is not yet setup on the server' or something similar that Plesk normally serves when browsing error domains..

Instead we now get a random page from another client on ALL clients on the server.

This is a Plesk misconfiguration.

By the way - the command You suggested is not correct - it should say:

"%plesk_bin%\websrvmng.exe" --reconfigure-vhost --vhost-name=<domain.tld>

But that command does not solve the problem either...
