Expired certificate??

Is there anyway to apply a certificate to a dedicated virtual server?

The problem is my clients are all aksing why is my SSL certificate expired.

I have asked the company I purchased the dv with what my options are but all they can tell me is to purchase something like a cheap Geotrust cert. and apply it one of my domain after I asign a new IP.

Am I missing something? Is my server not secure?

Here is the humiliating message all my clients see.

expired certificate

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Are your clients seeing that when they log into the controll panel? Or when they go to your website?

You can either purchase a certificate or create a self signed one in the certificates section under "server". Once that's done, click on "ip addresses" at the top, click on your ip and there will be a drop down where you can assign that cert to the ip.

They see it when they attempt to log into their control panel.

I did create a self signed certificate and assigned it to the IP of my server but still nothing.

If I view the certificate once the expired message comes up it just shows the info as below.

Common name (CN) vz31
Organiztion (O) SomeOrganization
etc......

Is it still the same expiration date? Try naming it somehting else. I just had to do this the other day. I usually change the cert name and delete the old one.

Did you restart psa?

do you have root access to your "dedicated virtual server," or does your hosting provider hold that key?

If you do... it's /etc/init.d/psa restart

(most likely)

Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? Anyone?

Surely others have this same issue.

Thanks!

Hi slampaq - Thanks for that. That will help. I just need to decide which company to buy my certificate from.

BTW.... nice site you have... is that you on the homepage? Cool shots :)

Anyhow, thanks again.
