FTP Cant delete anything!

I installed the microsoft ftp service, and a default looking site is created in plesk, however when I log into the account via ftp, I can see the files (even with incorect password??)but cant delete them!

Is there something im doing wrong? I get a 501 error

Ignore me,

I have just spent 5 hours configuring IIS permissions, when infact my ftp prog decided to switch to http mode, meaning I could view any file in visible directory but not edit them... he he switched it to ftp and is working like a charm,
