FTP client session crashes when upload large file

can someone give me an hint: when I upload large file (14Gb), a the end of the transfer, the session crashes (on the client side). The FTP server is ok, the file has even been copied there, but the client crashed at the end. The kernel at the client side never complained about memory or file too big issue.

Am running Fedora 4 in a VPS.

Any hint?
