How can I retrieve back root password

Dear Senior members,

My ISP help me to installed a Plesk and it seems running properly.

However, when I check the rpm, it seems that it is not installed as in the installation manual expected.

The password that the ISP given to me seems not accessible through SSH.

On the otherhand, the web admin account and SSH for other users seems work perperly.

May I know how I can login the server with SSH or retrieve the root password from the server?

Thanks very much!

Cheong

most likely they ahve disabled direct root login and you ahve to login as a different user and then su to the root.

In order to restore a root password you have to reboot the machine into single user mode - this is something most remote users can not do and should have their ISP do it.
