How do I give new FTP user write access?

I have created a new FTP user using the control panel for FTP accounts. However I do not find any option to give him write ? I understand that in Windows based servers there is such an option. I want the new user to be able to add and delete files as well as folders in the home directory (which I have set as a sub directory to which his access should be restricted).

I was unable to find any guide online. If anyone could please guide me to the correct resource or provide an explanation here, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am using Plesk on a shared virtual server of Media Temple.

Basically the read / write permission check box is required (at least thats what is in Windows servers)

Is there such a guide for Linux server?
