How to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition so that customers can use it?

Hello,

I would like to install MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition so our customers can have MSSQL databases.

How do I install the software so that they can use the MSSQL database functionality located in the plesk end-user (domain) control panel?

When I login as admin, I am unable to register the SQL Server, since only the "MySQL" option is availble in the drop-down box.

Any ideas? It would be nice if customers could use the plesk control panel to create/manage their MSSQL Server 2005 Express Edition databases. Otherwise, how do they manage things?

Install SQL Server 2005 on the server as normal. In the administration area, go to Server>Component Management and click the "Refresh" icon on the top. You should be able to see SQL Server under the SQL Server section. Your customers should be able to select SQL 2005. Hope this helps.

Yes, SQL Server is listed there.

SQL Server: Microsoft SQL Server 9.00.3042.00

It shows a green button, etc.

However, no SQL Server links are available to any customers when managing databases.

Any other ideas?

Same issue, now resolved

I was having the same issue where I could register the MSSQL database (sqlexpress) within Plesk 8.3 but was unable to then see the MSSQL option for database management. The advice given above where you need to "refresh" the components management area actually worked for me. Previously I did see the MSSQL installed and available however until I actually clicked the "refresh" button I was unable to manage the databases themselves via Plesk..

sergious,

Hello, i have the same problem.
I cannot add a mssql database, and the link you gave does not help, i cannot remove mysql or anything since its the only one, the mysql button is grey so i cannot remove it.
MSSQL is installed and running, its shows the green button too.

Thank you in advance!

I do have the same problem,
any Ideas?

The DB-creation link just gives me the option to create a MySQL DB.
