You can also remove some other annoying things like the MyPlesk and domain registration buttons etc.

Please can you provide a screenshot of how your interface area looks as I have no option to disable the Plesk news.

this option seems to have no effect here...
maybe it only removes the horde news feeds?`
btw those options are now grayer out in my panel... although still checked.

I am using Plesk v8.1.1 and while I see the option to disable Plesk News, when I select it, there is no change to my Desktop. Perhaps I need to reboot the server?

One note: I downloaded all the latest updates and still no change.

Thank you in advance for any help :)

Three? Is that a joke? Why would rebooting it once not solve it?

I logged out, yes... but do you mean clear my browser's cache or is there one on the web server that Plesk uses that I don't know about?

I'll try clearing the cache when I return home.

atomicturtle: where can get get that mod_security module for plesk?

EDIT: I see now, what it is. , Just wasn't paying close enough attention before.

I've cleared the cache, used a different computer... no luck.

Should I reboot the server?

Thats ASL (atomic secured linux), a commercial project. I would pimp that more, but I dont want to hijack the thread.

No, you dont need to reboot, this is entirely a web thing. Either you didnt poke and prod the settings the right way to get it to where you want, or your browser is caching the old data.

It disappeared when I 'closed' the Plesk News section and selected that it should 'not come back until there is new news.' It would seem that's the best way to disable it.

same here with 8.2. news and virtuosso will not go away!!!!tried it on my mac too no fixy!!!

There is no way to properly disable the Plesk news other than clicking the close / do not show or whatever it's called on the desktop. But this does not apply to clients accounts.

When Plesk releases new news it shows again. :(

Anyone manage to remove the plesk news yet? I don't even have the checkbox (which never worked) in the latest Plesk release :(

You could always edit the CSS-file for every skin to remove the "news".

Open /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/skins/*/css/main/desktop.css
Add this at the end of every file:
#dBox-news_articles
{ display: none !important; }
