How to stop outbound spam

Hello all,

Does anyone in here know what the best way is to filter outbound mail that is being send through apache?
I have a lot (more then usual) of issues with people abusing PHP scripts for spam lately.
I'm thinking about redirecting outgoing mail of all my plesk servers (running QMAIL) to a single outgoing smtp server that filters the messages before sending them. Any tips or suggestions?

The PHP 5.2.9 packages from the Atomic repo has a patch to include the name of the script invoking the mail() command.
