how to upgrade mysql

qualispace

Regular Pleskian
Hello,

We want to upgrade the MySQL version in a server to either 4.1 or 5.x as we want to migrate a few websites from Plesk to cpanel. However, if we upgrade the Plesk control panel, the MySQL version does not upgrade. It is still 3.23.58-1. The plesk version currently on the server is 8.1.1. How can we upgrade the MySQL version to at least 4.1, if not 5.x.

What about the Plesk database? If I use yum to upgrade MySQL, how will the Plesk database be migrated to the new version of MySQL? I have Red Hat ES 3.0. How can I set the repository in the server to fetch the correct MySQL from the correct repository?

Oh rhel3 huh, yeah I wouldnt try upgrading to mysql 5 with plesk on that platform. Its a little too old to do it safely. You'd be better off upgrading to CentOS/RHEL 5
