Http Traffic problem

Hey guys,

I'm having some problems with http statistics here, It's working fine on almost all of the domains, but a few of them stop getting the stats since last July.

I've checked the configuration files and compared to the domains that are working but didn't find any difference between them.

The access_log file is there, looking at the webalizer page, the last register is from early August, it seems like it just stopped there.

Any tips?

Thanks alot!
Ismael

You need to apply all the latest "hotfix" updates from Plesk. The easiest way would be to utilize your Plesk Control Panel. Login as Admin, go to Server -> Updater -> Plesk 8.0.1 -> ensure your base package is selected (it is by default) and select the other packages you have installed, but out of date. Then select the Install option at the bottom of the page. This will update your Plesk to the latest version (the most recent "release" was 10/18/06, though it just appeared on the site for download 10/23/06, and available on updater today (10/24). Ironic how they'll have a release, but not release it till 4-5 days after the version indicates... But that's a different story.

There was a known problem with the statistics generation script. It effected both HTTP traffic and disk space usage. This was fixed in hotfix6 released September 28th. Updating to the latest version should not give you any problems. However, I'm still in the process of updating my september 28th releases to the october 18th releases. Not sure what, if any, problems will appear in it.

If you wanted to download and install JUST the september 28th release, you could do so via the ftp site that handled the plesk packages. They average ~ 300mb in a download, so you'd probably want to download it straight to the box. They currently have, at my last check, the last 3 releases they've made for the 8.0.1 series.

Hope that gets you the info you need, and let us know if you need more help...

hi about your comment

hmm where did you read about it?
because i also having problem with my statistics
http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37299
can u refer me to that article or what so that i can explain to my customer?

This was something quiet a few people reported here in the forums. I experienced it on all three of my plesk 8 boxes. The September 28th update fixed it. Updating to the latest version, which is supported by your license if you're already using 8.0.x, will correct this problem.

hmm is there any danger in doing the updating?
because i am already hosting quite come customer
so during updating will the server be inaccessible?

The best time for updates is, of course, in non-peak hours. I've had updates take the site off for as much as 10 minutes, but I've had some updates not effect sites at all. I usually test the update on my "test server" before doing it on any of my live servers. If I notice no downtime, I'm more likely to do the update right away than waiting for a non-peak hour.

I'd recommend you wait till the slowest time for your server to issue the updates. I typically wait till ~ midnight for mine to occur. This is best for me as my clients, and their users, tend to be doing other things at this time.

did u have experiences like updates that will actuall crash the server or wat?
that is something that i am veri fearful of
