• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.

Huge problems with Plesk 7.5.x

Greetings folks.. these forums have been a tremendous help to me over the years, and now I’ve come to ask for some assistance. I've recently migrated from a rock-solid Plesk 5 server to multiple Plesk 7.5 servers - Plesk 7.5 just seems horribly unreliable, and I'm having some major issues with it. I'm hoping that someone may be able to help.

The first, and biggest, problem is basically this - domains revert to the "Default Plesk" page at random. The information in this FAQ resolves the problem temporarily, but it always returns.

Although in the FAQ, it states that the "Apache" default page is displayed, in my case, it displays the Plesk default page. Running /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a -v does indeed fix the problem temporarily.

So far, I've seen this on two different servers, each from a different company with different system images – one Plesk 7.5.1 on FC2 and another 7.5.2 on RHEL3. The behavior was exactly the same on both.

Support for one of the servers said that the /domain.com/conf/httpd.include file was missing, but it happened again to a domain today and I checked myself to see if that file was there. All of the domains in question were originally migrated (with the Plesk migration utility) from Plesk 5 on the original server. I thought perhaps the /domain.com/conf/httpd.include file wasn't created correctly, but that doesn't appear to be the situation.

I'm tempted to put the websrvmng on a 1 hour cron job or something. Is that really my best solution?

And, last, since there's a FAQ for the problem, I have to assume it's a known-issue that is being addressed. It's really pathetic - I've made NO changes to these servers, they are in the "out of the box" configuration.

Any suggestions or comments would really be appreciated. I don't mind searching the forums for answers to little configuration issues and such, but as far as I'm concerned, Plesk 7.5 is just broken and not worthy of using. But now, I have all my domains "migrated" to Plesk 7.5.2 and can't easily "migrate" to cPanel. Now I look like a jerk for suggesting Plesk in the first place, even based on our great experience using Plesk 5 on RH7.3.

Thanks!

DS
