Icourier Imap Not Working

When I try to click start in the service management it does not want to turn on. I check my status through ssh:
/etc/init.d/courier-imap status

and get the following:
courier-imap dead but subsys locked

I have restarted the server, also try to start the service through ssh as well, but after that when I check the status again it still gives the same error.
