if you were me: how would you make a linux server as secure as possible

Hello, I'm looking to do everything I can to secure my machine.

Things I've already thought about:
- elimate any way a clear-text password could be stored on my machine
- use the plesk firewall
- use the plesk watchdog module
- ?

What what you guys all do?
