Hi
The usual traumas when migrating from earlier versions of Plesk. So much undocumented fixing required.
We have clients who wish to redirect all email to their gmail etc mailbox. On Plesk 9.x this could be achieved with either the "Forward non existent mail to" or by setting up a mail account (not a mailbox) and then redirecting that. The latter was infinitely better since you could reject all the dictionary attack spam by creating a mail name and some aliases for it.
So i migrated to 12 and first off, there is no mail tab for a whole bunch of domains. How idiotic is that - even as administrator you have no control over mail settings for a domain. I googled and got this:
http://kb.odin.com/en/120566
But it doesnt work - it said Mail services already enabled for this domain!
So i found http://aaronadams.ca/post/16955616082/cant-find-the-mail-tab-in-plesk-10 . That worked. Why do i need to search the web for this SWSoft - why not have a working solution in your knowledgebase?
But the point is not to give clients mailboxes when they dont need them. In this way they can have a cheap service where there are no mailboxes, only a redirect. If they want to upgrade to mailboxes we can charge them. This worked fine in 9.x but has apparently now been removed - or am i missing something?
Next issue is getting "Mailbox full" in maillog for a redirect. You dont need a quota for a redirect so this makes no sense. So i gooogled and found
http://kb.odin.com/en/115003
Thats from 2012 and no fix yet. Really SWSoft.
So you are forced to set the default mailbox size on redirects or get "Mailbox full" rejections. So you have to set the quota to something which allows for mail with attachments to go through.
So now clients can create mailboxes where they couldnt before and you have to manually amend all clients with redirects once you migrate. If anyone knows a way around these apparently backward steps introduced in Plesk 12 i would be most grateful.
Cheers
Ash
