• Hi, Pleskians! We are running a UX testing of our upcoming product intended for server management and monitoring.
We would like to invite you to have a call with us and have some fun checking our prototype. The agenda is pretty simple - we bring new design and some scenarios that you need to walk through and succeed. We will be watching and taking insights for further development of the design.
If you would like to participate, please use this link to book a meeting. We will sent the link to the clickable prototype at the meeting.
  • (Plesk for Windows):
MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51, 5.1, and 5.3 are no longer shipped with Plesk because they have reached end of life. MariaDB Connector/ODBC 64-bit 3.2.4 is now used instead.
  • Our UX team believes in the in the power of direct feedback and would like to invite you to participate in interviews, tests, and surveys.
To stay in the loop and never miss an opportunity to share your thoughts, please subscribe to our UX research program. If you were previously part of the Plesk UX research program, please re-subscribe to continue receiving our invitations.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.

TITLE

Maximum message size (mail server settings) no longer respected in Roundcube webmail

PRODUCT, VERSION, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE

Plesk 18.0.68 #1; AlmaLinux 8.10

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Have emails set up. Use Roundcube. Set a Maximum message size in Server-wide mail settings. Example: 50.000 KBytes. Another example : 20.000 KBytes. Log into webmail and try to attach something. Limit is 32MB, no matter what.
Used to work in previous Plesk versions that the webmail attachment size was adjusted to what is specified in Server-wide mail settings for Maximum message size.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Set up email. Use Roundcube. Specify other then default Maximum message size in Server-wide mail settings. Check allowed attachment size in webmail for any email account.

ACTUAL RESULT

Maximum allowed file in webmail is 32MB. No matter what.

EXPECTED RESULT

Maximum allowed file should be same as what is specified in Maximum message size in Server-wide mail settings.

To my knowledge the attachment size for webmail always had to be configured independent of the maximum message size option. That's because the maximum message size actually does something different, it defines the total message size for the MTA (postfix or Qmail) for both incoming and outgoing messages. The total message is size is size of the email message itself plus the size of any attachment. Where as on the other hand the Roundcube configuration actually only applies to the upload limit for the attachment.

There even is an existing support article explaining how to change to attachment size for webmail:

But I could be wrong on this. It's just that I have configured both options (the maximum message size option and the webmail attachment size) separately for as long as I can remember.
