  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Migrate Wordpress from another hoster to a plesk server?

Server operating system version
Plesk Obsidian Web Host Edition
Plesk version and microupdate number
18.0.52 Update Nr. 2
Hi,

i have a basic wordpress website hosted by a hoster without plesk. The site is not updated to the newest wordpress version.
How can i migrate this site to the new server?

1) Backup files and database
2) Setup a new domain in plesk with blank page? or with wordpress?

What are the next steps?

There are a multitude of options. For example:

Create a blank domain if you want to use:
  • the Plesk website import function.
  • manually export the database on the older server, archive the files on the old server (in a zip or rar archive for example). Then import the database on to the new server, and recreate the database user(s), after that upload the archive file to the document root and extract the archive. (modify the database settings in the wp-config.php file if necessary).
Or create a domain with Wordpress already installed if you:
  • use a Wordpress backup plugin that creates a backup package. Consult the plugin documentation for exact steps.
Lastly update your DNS records to point to the new server.
