• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Migration of Joomla + SMF site

Hello everybody,

I'm completely new to server administration but I registered a "1and1 dedicated server + Plesk 9 + Centos 5"...

As my website is Joomla and SMF(simple machine forum) powered, I would like to know the best way to do the migration from an existing backup.

Should I install Joomla from the Web Application panel of Plesk?
How will I do updates that need to overwrite files by ftp?
People installing joomla have rights trouble and have to use things like suPHP (which seems dangerous). Have you turn around?
