• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Question Migration with secure passwords/plain passwords

JP Kelly

Regular Pleskian
I am trying to migrate a Plesk installation and am getting the warning
"Failed to decode the passwords of some subscriptions users. The passwords will be reset."

It seems some passwords are encrypted and some are not.

The following KB article gives a solution but I am not sure how to proceed.
Migrator Pre-checks displays the following warning: Failed to decode the passwords of some subscriptions users. The passwords will be reset.
The article states:
  1. Log into Plesk
  2. Update the passwords for the affected users/emails.
  3. Perform the pre-checks again.
What method should I use to update the passwords? Does this reset the user's password? I really don't want to reset all the users' passwords.

Hello!
It is doesn`t matter what method will you use, migrator will update only affected users(the list of the affected users are listed in Pre-migration checks).
