Resolved modsec_audit.log is empty

I created the file:
/etc/logrotate.d/mod_security

/var/log/modsec_audit.log {
daily
rotate 7
missingok
compress
postrotate
/sbin/service httpd reload > /dev/null 2>/dev/null || true
endscript
}

and the rotation works but the modsec_audit.log is allways empty now.
so I need some help.

Yes - I know that article and I did chmod 0644

Now I deleted
/etc/logrotate.d/mod_security
and the logrotation still works (I'm confused!)
but the modsec_audit.log is still empty (day by day)

It's always the same **** with mod_secure - sometimes it works and sometimes it chrashed.
