• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

MSSQL memory usage is increasing continiusly

I have a problem with MSSQL on my windows2003 server with Plesk 8.1.

Problem is that the MSSQL service uses more memory when it runs. Starting the service it begins with approx 64MB memory usage, after one day it runs up to 700MB and more. At that time Plesk doesn't work fine (very slow)and I have to restart the MSSQL service.

I have some sites (approx 6) that use MSSQL for ASP. (not very heavily visited sites).

Is there a way to find out if one of the sites is creating this problem ?

This is actually "normal" behaviour for MS SQL (and other MS products such as Exchange). They will consume as much RAM as possible so data is kept in RAM and not read off the much slower swap file. The best thing you can do if it is becoming a problem is to manually set limits on the RAM use by SQL. This can be done in Enterprise Manager by right-clicking on your server, selecting properties and then the Memory tab. There you can set a maximum limit.

Thank you for your reply. Somehow i had an idea that it would be something linke that.

I'll try to change the settings
