My websites suddenly died

I can enter PLESK control panel, but when I try to check something from my domains I get lots of errors like:

when try to see logs:
LogFilesList->init() failed: filemng failed: filemng: stat failed: No such file or directory

when try to see files:
FileList::init() failed: ls_dir_wrapper() failed: filemng: Unable to getpwnam for user xxxx filemng: User xxxx not found

but besides all these the websites seemed to dissappear from the www, they are all on my PLESK and all the definitions are OK. I even tryed to restart the server, it restarted. Tryed to restart apache trough SSH, and boing! SSH and FTP don't work either!

Webmail works fine and mysql too.

So what's wrong?
Help me out please.

I managed to enter through SSH with the server in "recovery" mode. What do you suggest I do now?

I went to PLESK and the Apache server option has got a red cross and when press RUN it gives me this error:

Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by websrvmng: websrvmng: Service httpd failed to start

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

0: /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/server/restart_services.php:19 psaerror(string "Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by websrvmng: websrvmng: Service httpd failed to start")

I REALLY NEED HELP

Have you checked the directory & file ownership (ftpusername : psaserv) (or ftpusername : psacln)

Were any changes made to any of the apache config files, either in /etc/httpd/conf or /home/httpd/vhosts/domain.tld/conf before this occurred? May want to check them anyways.

Check your log files for any indications of problems

nothing was changed. it just stopped working. besides that right now I cant login via SSH it tells me the the host is "unreachable" (my IP). so I can't read the logs.

all my 4 IP's arent working, they all go to 404 pages.

i just happened this afternoon, everything was working great for months.

i gotta solve this problem all by myself and i dont figure out how

:(

Can you SSH to the IP? And have you checked with your provider or ISP to see if you are having problems on the network end?

ISP (amen) has no problems, just my stuff that isnt working. I've tryed SSH with my IP, my domains and nothing.

Have your Hosting techs reboot the server, or since they have console access, they may be able to do some diagnostic checking.

I did manage do enter via SSH earlier. Here's some problems I had then:

I've tryed to restart apache from here or read the logs, but there's something wrong:

root # apachectl -k stop
-bash: apachectl: command not found

and how come the /local directory isnt found if it is there:

usr # dir
X11R6 bin doc i686-pc-linux-gnu include info lib local man portage sbin share src tmp

root # dir usr/local
dir: usr/local: No such file or directory

root # dir usr/local
You're in the /root directory, so you would have to do:

dir /usr/local

In your initial post, you mentioned that mysql and webmail were still working, are they working now or have they stopped as well?

yes i also did /usr/local
i just posted one of my last tries.

webmail and phpadmin (mysql) are still workin

Ok, so if you are in the 'usr' directory and can 'see' the local directory, but cannot get a dir listing of it, then you may have to run some fsck/e2fsck checks on the drive/partitions

but the problem right now is that I cant even connect through SSH. I did it once, but it does not work now

without SSH connection I'm in a dead end, right?

With a remote server, if SSH does not work, then your next move would be to call the DataCenter/Host techs who have console access to the server.

that's what I didnt want to hear. They dont work at weekends, and during the week they are slow answering to costumer problems. thanks for the help, i think I need some sleep now.

You don't have VNC installed on the server do you? That's the only other thing I can think of right now.

i got connected through SSH

can anyone help me now?

i bet someone has hacked my server or something

here's the alert i got from the SSH manager

---------------------
HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED

1. Either the administrator has chanded the host identification or
2. The host has been upgraded from SSH1 to SSH2
3. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
------------------

the local directory is:

root # dir /usr/local
bin doc games lib man sbin share src

i though it should have an APACHE subdirectory, right?

Look for

/usr/lib/httpd

'httpd' is Apache on RH type systems

/usr/lib/httpd: No such file or directory
