MySql database access

Hi, I'm a noobie, but hopefully someone will see fit to descend to my level...

I've created a mysql database and a database user as a client for a virtual domain.

I don't seem to know how to connect to it. I'm using MySQL-Front, though that probably doesn't matter.

My guess is that I'm putting something in wrong.

For the server, I'm putting the domain name. For the login I'm putting the database username and corresponding password. I suspect the domain name may need to be modified in some way: how does the server know whose database I want to access?

I wish to access it in this way so I can move an existing database to the new server. I haven't tried to do it via the webpages because I don't want to create any data that I don't want. I'd rather try to move the existing data into a blank slate.
