Mysql Problem Please help

I hvae Ubuntu 10.04 where I ran the update

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

it asked something about saving the newere my.cnf file and I pressed y

after that I am getting the following error

ERROR: PleskFatalException
Unable to connect to database: mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

I try to update i get the following error please help
