  • Support for BIND DNS has been removed from Plesk for Windows due to security and maintenance risks.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS.

Name Server Problems

We have done all that we know to do in setting up our dns name server using Plesk 8.0. We are using a new name server name based on one of our domains.

We still are not getting it to find the server. Port is open and all settings are now set correctly. Bind is loaded on the server and set up correctly.

Does anyone know if the new name server name and IP have to be register somewhere on the internet?

I talked to Network Solutions where the domain is and they said yes there is a place to go to register the name server but they said that it was not them and they could not tell me where it was?

Can anyone tell me where it is that I might have to go or what the procedure is?

You must register your domain name to one of the ip addresses in Plesk. The place to register (match) the ip address and the domain is with the registrar. Where do you have the domain name registered.
