No Upgrade Available for SuSE 9.1 - what now?

I notice there is no Plesk 8.0.0 upgrade available for SuSE 9.1. I am now considering doing a fresh install of a 64-bit OS and then migrating my old server across.

I would like to know:

1. Has anyone done a similar job and how much trouble can I expect?

2. Which 64-bit operating system would you all recommend?
