  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Non-branded servers? What do u use

Regular Pleskian
Hi all,

I'm considering building a Plesk server from scratch. I'm not new to systems builds, and began my working life in I.T in 1995 (that's pre-Windows 95 by the way). I've built systems for the likes of Level 3, Siemens, BAE and so on as well as more commercial business systems and home PC’s.

I'm interested to know what other users have server wise, and who has built a server from scratch for 24/7 high demand web hosting.

This question recently came to mind when I looked at the costs of buying another branded server (HP, Dell or IBM) for a project I'm working. I currently use a HP Proliant DL360 G3 with 2 x Xeon 2.8GHz and 4GB of memory. But for future expansion it’s a little under powered and I want to go Quad Core with allot more memory.

Matt
