Not able to send email to another email on same VPS with an external MX record

Jonathan

New Pleskian
I'm having difficulty sending an email to another email address (with a different domain) which is on the same VPS.

The trouble is, on the other domain's VPS control panel, within the DNS settings, the MX records have been pointed externally (to an exchange server). Their email is turned off. But bizarrely, their mailbox is full.

It seems as though Plesk is ignoring the MX records, and sending MY email internally to the OTHER domain's mailbox on the same VPS.

How do I get Plesk to send my mail to the correct EXTERNAL MX records?

Hello,

Are you completely sure that the other domains mail service is turned off in Plesk?

How do you check?
In the master admin section, home > subscriptions > the domain in question > resources...
It says 40 mailboxes allowed.

In the domain's own admin section...
websites & domains > hosting settings > mail settings...
Activate mail service on this domain is 'unchecked'.
mail > mail settings...
The mail service's status is 'off'.
websites & domains > DNS settings
mx(0) is set to the external exchange server

Is this all correct or is there something else to do?

Hi Jonathan,

if you still experience issues, please be so kind to include mail - logs and probably depending configuration files.
It always helps as well, if you point out, WHICH operating system you use, the actual Plesk version ( incl. MU's ) and in your case as well, what sort of mail - software ( postfix / qmail / courier-imap / dovecot ) you use.
If you wish to anonymize IPs and domains in the logs, please be aware, that we are not fully able to investigate your issue and sometimes have to guess what's happening, when the error - log doesn't point to the issue/problem.

And how do I do that in a public forum?
I thought this was the only arena where I could discuss generally about an issue that I've been told by IT companies is reasonably frequent.
I would have submitted a support request, but I am not the direct licence holder. My hosting company is.
