Ongoing NS Problem

Why does Plesk insist on listing my servers NetBIOS name as one of the nameservers in the DNS zones? Even when I remove it from MS DNS Console, if I make any changes to that particular zone within Plesk, (ie. update an A record), it makes the changes but then puts the servername as a NS. How can I stop this from happening?

This is now happening to me with plesk 8.1 after a move to a new machine. Did you ever resolve this?

Nope, we haven't heard back from anybody nor I have we figured this out.

What you can do is change the primary DNS suffix like this:

let's say netb name is server1

right click my computer -> properties
go to computer name -> change
click more -> enter DNS server name ex:"topdomain.com"
OK it all
create DNS A entry for "server1.topdomain.com"
reboot

of course replace server1 and topdomain.com with your info

Not sure about how clean a fix, but it no longer is adding the netb name. Not sure why either, but like most fixes I wont mess with it until it breaks again. Hope that helps you.
