"Open in Web" link to domain always uses link without WWW prefix

PRODUCT, VERSION, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE

Plesk 18.0.40

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

The link to open the domains website (named "Open in Web") always links to the domain without the WWW prefix. Regardless of what option is set for Preferred domain in the domains Hosting Settings. It would be nice (or perhaps even expected) that if the Preferred domain option is set to use the WWW prefix the "Open in Web" link would also use a link to the domain with the www prefix.

In some (rare) use cases the direct domain (without any prefix) might not work or isn't configured yet. Leaving a website only accessible using the domain with the www prefix. In which case the "Open in Web" won't work as expected.

I know this is a pretty minor issue, but it's something that can cause confusion with users as I have experienced today :)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Goto domains Hosting Settings and set the Preferred domain option the use the WWW prefix for domain.
2. Return to main domain page and observe that the "Open in Web" link stil uses a link without the WWW prefix.

ACTUAL RESULT

No WWW prefix used

EXPECTED RESULT

Use of WWW prefix in link

@Rasp, could you please share the real cases here? In fact, the Preferred domain option affects the unconditional redirect to www, and it is configured automatically. It is unclear what stops working there and what kind of customizations are there.
Thanks,

@IgorG, it's the "Open in web" link that causes a little confusion with some users.

The "Open in web" link in Plesk fails to open a website when no @ DNS record is configured for the domain (or points to some were else). Because the "Open in web" link links to the main domain (e.g Example Domain) by default. Even if the website is still accessible with the www prefix (e.g Example Domain).

It would be nice if the Preferred domain option is set to 'www' the "Open in web" link changes to include the www prefix. (I know the Preferred domain domains redirects unconditionally, but the redirect won't work if there is no @ DNS record configured or points to some were else).

A real world scenario in which this caused a bit off confusion was when a customer only had a www DNS record pointed to his server and had the Preferred domain options also set to 'www', and clicked the "Open in web" link to see the link fail.

It's pretty minor really and a very rare scenario.
