PHP compiled with GD

My server was configured without GD enabled for PHP. I installed GD from an RPM but PHP doesn't know it is there. Can GD be added to PHP in php.ini somehow? Someone said PHP has to be recompiled. If that is what is required, how is that done?

Got it done!

Actually I'm running RHEL ES 4 so I don't think Yum is in there but I did meet with success by running up2date -i php-gd and restarting httpd. Apparently I had installed the wrong GD RPM before. Anyway, it's working like a champ now.

Thanks!
