PHP.INI file is not updating after plesk

Im not sure if Plesk is the reason but for some reason when i edit my /etc/php.ini the actuall file changes but the server does not reflect the changes... for ex. register_global =On and removed the ; but it is still actually turned off when i run my phptest.php file.. Does anyone know what the reason behind that is?

Did you reload apache after making the change?

I really recommend to not set register_globals to On by default by the way. If a domain really needs register_globals, and you know it is secure, I'd just set register_globals for that specific domain. See Including Directives into Web Server Configuration File in the manual.
