Resolved Plesk 12.5 & MySQL 5.7

PriyanA

Regular Pleskian
Hi,

When is MySQL 5.7 support will be added to Plesk?

Is there anyone tested MySQL 5.7 and Plesk 12.5 even though its not officially supported?

Thank you!

actually plesk 12.5 supports mysql 5.6 but i don't know how to upgrade i already try it by #yum upgrade mysql
its still 5.5
anny suggestions are welcome thanks by advance

Brecht Rogiers,

What is your OS?

You need a Repo with 5.6 to upgrade to 5.6 with Yum.

https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/repo/yum/

These Repo s are with 5.7 enabled by default. MAKE SURE YOU DISABLE 5.7 AND ENABLE 5.6 before update via YUM.

I will suggest you to wait till Plesk add support for MySQL 5.7. 5.6 using too much memory.

Hi Gigaveri,

please CHECK the site "http://docs.plesk.com/release-notes/12.5/software-requirements/".

You will find there supported software and ( if necessary ) their supported versions, as for example under the section "Supported Third-Party Components":

Database servers and tools:
  • MySQL 5.0.x-5.6
  • PostgreSQL 8.1-9.4
  • MariaDB 5.5, 10.0

Even that in a previous post IgorG promised a "soon support" for MySQL 5.7, this is still not the case. Plesk might have experienced unexpected issues, which are not yet solved and therefore Plesk didn't add the support for MySQL 5.7 yet.
Please check the above link again in the future, to see if there might have been a change for the third-party component support.

I have run these steps without success not updated, should force.

Someone knows that time can be?
Or some other solution to install the latest version of Magento?
Thank you very much.

PHP:
wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic | sh

yum upgrade mysql

mysql_upgrade -uadmin -p`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow`

/etc/init.d/mysqld restart

Hi Tize,

Or some other solution to install the latest version of Magento?
I'm sorry, but the basic system requirements for Magento 2.1 can be found at => http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/v2.1/install-gde/system-requirements.html
...
Database
MySQL 5.6 (Oracle or Percona)
...
So there is no need to install MySQL 5.7 on your server to use Magento 2.1, which can result in various, unexpected database failure(s)/issue(s)/problem(s), when you use Plesk 12.5.

But how far I can have problems.
You can be sure, that IF it would be "easy" to support MySQL 5.7 with Plesk 12.5, the developpers would react fast with updates/upgrades/patches, in order to support it. You could inform yourself about all the changes for MySQL 5.7 at: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/5.7/en/

Hello UFHH01, thank you very much for your message.
Then I recommend that you wait for Plesk update?
Thanks for your help.

Hello UFHH01, thank you very much for your time and good response.
then I wait to be a launch by Plesk and while I will work with the 1.9 version of Magento.
Thanks again and receives a warm greeting.

@Tize,

For maximum stability and reliability one should use the official supported software with Plesk.

However I wanted to let you know that I have been running MariaDB 10.1 for some time now with no issues, also the upgrade procedure to MariaDB 10.1 is described by @Lloyd_mcse, and states to use it on some systems as well.

If you require it you may go this way, but at your own risk. Maybe @Lloyd_mcse can give some feedback on this.

Hello @urki good evening, thank you very much for your recommendation.
But I'm still beginner in servers, would not be able without risk.
I'll wait, thank you very much, greetings and see you soon.
