Issue Plesk backups are not automatically removed

Brahim

New Pleskian
Hello Everyone,

I have problem with the Plesk Backups which are not automatically removed when you set Keep backup files for 2 days. The issue occurs on our both environments prod and on acceptance. The backups are keeping on default location /var/lib/psa/dumps/.

The issue occurs when we have upgraded plesk to version 17.5.3. before on plesk version 17.0.* there where no problems with the backups.

We are using:
Plesk Onyx
Version 17.5.3 Update #18, last updated
On Redhat 6.8

Is this bug in plesk or how can i fix this ?
Please any help..

Thnx. BE

Hi Brahim,

could you pls. include the depending backup log(s) ( "/usr/local/psa/PMM/logs/backup-<datetime>" ), so people willing to help you are able to investigate the issues/errors/problems together with you?
In addition, pls. include the "# Backups directory" settings from your "/etc/psa/psa.conf" and provide as well your settings from => Tools & Settings > Backup Manager > Settings

Hi Brahim,

pls. consider to set
Code:
FORCE_DEBUG_LOG 1
at => /usr/local/psa/admin/share/pmmcli/pmmcli-rc , so the debug - log - level mode is setup and re-run the backup pls.
Afterwards, pls. post the new corresponding "backup.log" and "pmmcli.log" for further investigations and redo the above changes to "0".

Should the following directory have files inside?
DUMP_TMP_D /var/lib/psa/tmp
because it is empty!
Which is "normal", as this folder only contains TEMPORARY files during the backup procedure.

At the moment, I could only find
Code:
Unable to find last incremental backup, because of current backup has no version mark in the file name ...
... but with no indications other than, that the version number hasn't be created, or just couldn't be found for what ever reason ( might be displayed with the "debug level mode" now ).

FORCE_DEBUG_LOG 1 enabled on /usr/local/psa/admin/share/pmmcli/pmmcli-rc and i applied a new full backup.

Hi Brahim,

unfortunately, I couldn't find any usefull hints, why the max-limit of your backups exceeds, but I would still recommend the following, to see, if that solves your issue:

Download the two most recent backups ( to have a backup in case of issues/errors/problems occure within the next days )
Delete ALL backups and the corresponding subfolders.
Change your backup settings to something different than the current setup.
Save your new settings.
Revert the changes, by setting up the desired amount of maximum backups.
Save the new settings.
Re-run a new FULL - backup manually.
Re-run a new incremental backup manually.

Wait for the next TWO scheduled automatic backups to check, if these changes/new settings now already solved your issue.

Pls. don't hesitate to report back at this thread afterwards. :)

If you still experience the described issue, pls. open a new "Bug - Report" at

... and don't forget to mention this thread, when you describe your issue at the bug - report.

I still experience the problem with backups.
The backups are not automatically removed when you set the correct schedule.
I will report this as "Bug-Report".
