• Halloween is coming! To celebrate the occasion, we dusted off a couple of old skins, and even created a brand new one (Pixel).
To get into the festive spirit, install the Skins extension.
  • The new Python extension is now available. It allows customers to deploy and manage WSGI-based Python applications on their websites directly from Plesk.
  • The Plesk Mobile apps for iOS and Android and the Plesk Mobile Center extension have been deprecated, and are no longer available for new installations. In Plesk Obsidian 18.0.84, the Plesk Mobile Center extension will be removed from servers during the upgrade, and the Plesk Mobile apps will lose their server management features.
  • The Social Login extension has been deprecated and will be removed in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.84. After that, it will no longer be possible to log in to Plesk with a Google, Facebook, GitHub account, or with a passkey. Plesk usernames and passwords, as well as logging in with a WebPros Account, are not affected.

Issue Plesk events can be written to loop

When using events like `template_domain_update`, if the script the event calls also runs a command that triggers the very same event, it will continuously loop running the event, triggering the command, running the event, etc.

To avoid that, a lockfile can be created by the developer of the script, with something unique to the event (ex: the template id) that the event calls, then the lockfile would be checked at the start of each run. If found the lockfile must be removed, script exited.

The problem is I don't think Plesk devs would want to leave this up to script devs to realize and resolve.

At minimum, it would be useful to include info on this in the documentation - to watch out for loops and to ensure to use a lockfile if you must call a command that executes the same event.

At best, it would be better for Plesk's task manager to detect the loop and stop the duplicate from hitting the event.

Separate request:
It would also be handy to have an option for events to trigger their command only after the event has completed processing. With the service plan update events, this could be many minutes later.

Thank you for bringing our attention to the issue. Our developers confirmed that they will create an internal case to improve the behavior. However, I cannot provide an ETA at the moment. I will follow up with more details as soon as possible.
