• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.

pop3 login problems

For some reason, one of the email accounts that I have set up in Plesk 7.5 Reloaded fails when trying to check pop3 mail. I have tried this in Outlook and Thunderbird. I get an authentication/login failure error. I tried the procedure via telnet and the login failed also:

telnet mydomain.com 110
+OK Hello there.
user lou
+OK Password required.
pass xxxxxxx

-ERR Login failed.

This problem only seems to happen with this one email account and only on occassion. This is a new Plesk 7.5 install on CentOS 3.4.

Any ideas?

Is the customer trying to update their password via horde or another 3rd party app?
Does the problem clear up by itself, or do you have to reset the password for it to work again?
What do your logfiles say?

Password was set in Plesk. The problem clears up itself sometimes. /var/logs/messages says:

Jun 17 21:40:49 sp2406a authpsa: IMAP connect from @ [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]

What opther logs should I be looking at?

Thanks :)

-Lou
