Hello All,

I recently installed a new server monitoring solution that has identified a strange SMTP connection problem. I was wondering if anybody has found anything similar and if possible a solution?

I am monitoring port 25 on server ip x.x.x.x with a 5 min delay.
The test basically asks for a 220 response.
If NO 220 then it fires off an SMS notification.

I have had some 30 outages over the past two days on SMTP 25. The err the monitor is giving me is “Server is available but no response"

This happens ate all times of the day, night & early mornings.

I have looked in the logs but i am not quite sure what I should be looking for!

If anybody can offer some light on the matter I would be very grateful.

--FYI--
I am also monitoring other services like HTTPD, DNS MYsql and never get any err reports ONLY SMTP!
