Possible To Update Mambo?

Is it possible to update Mambo in the application vault to a newer version? The current one I have is 4.5.3, which has security issues - not to mention it fails to install because it's not configured to work with a utf-8 database.

It's an old version - is it possible to update these applications? Or is the only way to get the newer working version is for me to install it myself, thus completely defeating the purpose of application vault?
