Resolved Postfix: Domain alias

Hi

I have a domain e.g. mydomain.com. This domain has a subdomain e.g. sub.mydomain.com - but it is not created as a subdomain using plesk - the IP address is pointing elsewhere.

Eventhough the subdomain and domain is not at the same IP - it should be considered as the same when receiving emails. E.g. emails to [email protected] is received at [email protected]. Can I not set sub.mydomain.com to be a alias for mydomain.com in postfix?

Does the subdomain have a MX record associated with it?

Yes. I have pointed it to the domain name I use for the mail server

It seems that I have solved it:

I used this article as inspiration: Unable to send an email using webmail: User unknown in virtual alias table

When I added:

@sub.mydomain.com @mydomain.com
to the virtual file

And in the virutal_domains file I added
sub.mydomain.com mydomain.com/
